'I’m left scarred, proudly - as if each mark on my character were an initial, a signature in the guestbook of my existence. An “I was here” where someone thought my body worthy of such vandalism.'
Today is Spirit Day, day to remember and to share and a day that should probably be everyday, but none the less.
This is my contribution.
Out of all my characters Draessy is the one that receives most persecution for who ze is.
In school ze always wore the wrong clothes or had the wrong hair cut, then when ze started actively expressing zerself as androgynous things got worse.
Ze received the small scar or zer shoulder on a bus by a random stranger - it's a cigarette burn.
The others were inflicted by people from school who cornered zer one day. They are mainly burns - stemming from Draessy's fire-breathing but there are cuts across one shoulder blade.
That's why Draessy ended up in the circus, and eventually accepted zerself fully.
This is my first time drawing burns, so I hope they look alright. And Draessy's handwriting is a pain, ze writes her T's backwards...
